Fresh Start for the New Year

Today I am going to be preparing for the new year. We will be taking down our tree and all the decorations. Before I was married my family used to leave everything up until after New Years Day but my husband's family has always taken everything down before New Year's eve because they say in German tradition it is bad luck to bring the old year into the new one. I don't believe in luck either good or bad but am just as happy to have the new year start off fresh and not have to worry about doing it all later.

I hope to be able to make up some menu plans for us as well as for the little monkeys today so that I can make grocery lists and shop only once a week. This is one of my "New Year's resolutions." One of the biggest money drains I contribute to is going to the grocery store every single day! I always forget something or discover I need something for a recipe I am making that day, or I run out of something and have to go to the store. The trouble with this kind of activity is that I never leave the store with just what I went for so I am going to plan ahead and shop only once a week and resist the urge to just pop over to the store every day.

I am also going to be making stuffed mushrooms and devilled eggs for a get together we are going to at a friends place this evening.

Right now I have bread going in the bread maker....I just love this machine. ~smile~ I also have quite a bit of housework to catch up on so I better get moving!

Happy Thursday!

Blessings,

Liisa
