1950's Recipe - Summer Time Drinks

Since it has been so hot here I thought I'd share some recipes for yummy sounding summer time drinks.

Coffee Ice Cream Soda

Several hours before making soda, mix 1 cup boiling water with 1/4 cup instant coffee; add 1/2 cup sugar and dash of salt. Cool. Add 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Chill. For each soda, put 2-3 tbsp. in a large glass; add 1/4 cup milk and large scoop of vanilla ice cream. Fill with chilled carbonated water.

Frozen Raspberry Ice Cream Soda

Fro each serving put 2 tbsp. partially defrosted, frozen raspberries in a tall glass. Fill 3/4 full with carbonated water. add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and top with a few raspberries.

Orange Peach Freeze

For each serving, put 2 tbsp. frozen orange juice concentrate in a tall glass. Add 3 or 4 ice cubes and fill glass 3/4 full with carbonated water. Add a scoop of orange sherbet and garnish with fresh peach slices dipped in orange juice to prevent discoloration.

Fruit Cooler

For each serving put 3 or 4 ice cubes in a tall glass. Add 1 long strip of pineapple, 1 slice each orange and lime and 2 maraschino cherries. Fill glass with carbonated water. Sweeten to taste with maraschino cherry juice.

Blessings,
Liisa
