Works For Me Wednesday

Today is a Works for me Wednesday backwards edition. I get to ask what works for you! I have recently received a bread maker and I love it but I would like some help with a few things.....

First of all how do you store the bread you make and keep it fresh?

and...

Does anyone have a good recipe for a 2 lb. white bread? The recipe I have is wonderful but it makes a three pound loaf and the math is beyond me to reduce it!

also....

Does anyone have a good rye bread recipe 2, 2.5 or 3 lb. loaf?

I guess I am really taking advantage of this opportunity! If anyone can help me with this I would really appreciate it! For more Works for Me Wednesday please visit Rocks in my Dryer.
Blessings,
Liisa

I just blogged our wheat recipe for another gal so click over and you'll see it. And if you email me I'll forward our white bread recipe. Both are easy and fabulous! Also, we put a washcloth or paper towel in the crock pot and keep our bread in there. That way you can still see its there and remember to eat it but you don't have to worry about condensation.

I store my bread in Glad food storage bags. These are not ziplocks, but come with twist ties. They basically look like gallon size sandwich bags, and are really cheap by all the plastic wrap and such.

Here's a post I put up about breadmakers with some links:

Ok first question, I save bread bags for when I make my own - Ziplocks work too but I often have to cut the loave to make it fit.

I did have a good recipe but have lost it in my recent move. And no rye bread recipes sorry.

I would like to say that I only use my bread machine for making the dough - then I take it out, put it into two small loaf pans, let rise again and bake in a reg oven - It just turns out so much better as far as I am concerned then in the machine.

Happy baking!

What I do is let the bread cool down until it's room temperature. Then I store in a gallon sized ziplock bag. It usually keeps great until we eat it up. The other hints I have about this--don't cut until it's cool or you will dry it out, and make sure you don't put it in plastic until it's cool or it will get soggy.

I don't really have any recipes, because I make sourdough bread from scratch, but I am sure there are tons online.

3. rye bread

Everything I know about bread-making.

Let me know how it goes okay?

I have a Tupperware bread keeper that I put the fresh bread in and it stays fresh for about 48hrs.

I have found some great recipes at Recipezaar. I just put "Bread Machine White Bread" in the search bar and the we have never had a bad recipe from there.

Good luck!
